x1 works that way but ps4 you can play emmediatly. Patches arent mendatory, you can still play these consoles offline without patches. Of course if activision, ea and ubisoft are lazy then dont buy their games. Japanese devolopers dont rely on stuff like that, they have different work ethic and consumer standards sicne they arent coming from pc background where patches always were common.

I believe Conina is referring tothe WiiU with his comment.  The first time I bought a WiiU I actually had to wait about half a day before it was actually playable due to the crazy amount of patches and how shitty the download speed was.  It's probably better now that it's further away fromlaunch, but "old school console experience" isn't really what I'd call that day.
