Because obviously Nintendo never benefitted any from copying Sony and MS, such as adding on online service and moving away from cartridge based games.

You do realized that NEC released the Turbo CD in 1989 right? You do also realize that Sega Net, first via the Saturn in Japan and later on as the Dreamcast's worldwide on-line service, preceded X-box Live right?
