Make it have its own character instead of relaying on old tropes. Super Mario Bros. 2 (Doki Doki Panic) was very different to Super Mario Bros. 1. And Super Mario Bros. 3 was again very different from Super Mario Bros. 1 and Super Mario Bros.: the lost levels. Super Mario World introduced many new things like Yoshi and in Super Mario World 2 you even played as Yoshi! The games also frequently changed art styles and they looked good for its time. So I suggest they do something new. Create a 2.5D Mario platformer with a unique artstyle (Paper Mario artstyle would be cool on an HD console) and gameplay that sets it appart from the rest of the series. Introduce new gameplay mechanics like Yoshi (but NOT Yoshi). |
I totally agree with this. Mario needs a new style, new overhaul, new mechanics. And to Nintendo, new always means old which means tried and true Yoshi. It's angering me that NIntendo is sticking on this single style 4 games in! It's beginning to look cheesy to me. I loved that each Mario game changed styles back then. I personally want to see the chubby Mario again.
