Nintendo is in good hands with Iwata. Now they need to be more agressive and buy a couple of western studios. By having these studios and its own producing some AAA games to rapidly create a strong instal based for their next console, they could attract the third party developpers back and steal some of Microsoft and Sony market shares. Isolation and casual are not a option anymore. Whatever people want to believe about the death of consoles, the video games market have incresed a lot since nes, snes and N64 days. Nintendo is the world biggest and best games developers. They have the potential to be the leader again.
Iwata can keep Nintendo into profits in the next years. But their transition to a new console must be a lot more agressive not to repeat the Wii to Wiiu mistake (or snes to n64 one...).
