MS has no chance in Europe. Too many anti Americans who won't buy an Xbox simply because of its country of origin. They should be throwing more money at dominating America where they still have a chance at creating a large lead in the long term to offset their failure in Europe and Asia.

Yeah, that's why Hollywood movies, Starbucks coffee, the iPod etc etc have all failed in Europe.

The difference is, there is no alternative. There is no alternative to big budget hollywood action movies, there is no alternative to the ipod unless you want to be using CD players forever, and Europeans won't give up their comforts because of their beliefs. With consoles there is a clear alternative, Japanese consoles versus American consoles. I've spoken with more than one European that has said they won't be supporting the Xbox because it's American made and promoted made simply to take over another industry to support their expansionist and capitalist system, an explanation I hear second only to the one that it has too many FPS games which aren't particularly popular in Europe.

All talk about Europeans being anti-American is nonsense. It's the same talk supporters of MS like to throw at Japan.

It's like playing the race card. They say the xbox360 is doing poorly in Japan because it is an American product and turn a blind eye to the fact that the iPod (American) kills Sony (japanese) mp3 players in Japan. Actually a recent report stated Apple is one of the Japanese most admired companies.

I have an xbox360. I went to work, used MS Windows. I went home (sometimes) and play the MS 360.

MS products seemed to be everywhere in my life. Well the Xbox360 broke and my office switched to Mac OS X.

I have had the 360 exchanged and  I am using it again.

Some (not all) Americans I have chatted with in forums will like nothing better than to sleep in an MS bed, eat MS cereal for breakfast and  drink MS beer. Nothing wrong with that, really. It's their choice.

As for myself, I (and almost all the people I can think of) prefer a little more variety.

I do agree that XBOX360 games (so many FPSes) are more suited for gun ho americans than europeans.
