Just played 6 rounds of For Glory Smash Bros. Did pretty well, too. Must be all the Christmas newbies.

Seriously, though, i didn't think Lizard Squad would be able to pull it off on one network, let alone two of them.

I'm no expert, but when they surprise attack MS or Sony and take them down then yeah that's kind of understandable. This situation however was announced months before it happened. Couldn't MS and Sony do anything to prevent this?

One would figure they'd be prepared for a simple DDoS attack in general, unless Lizard Squad are deploying something quite sophisticated or Sony and Microsoft were both negligent in preparing for this, which is unlikely. One of the two maybe, but both?

I think it's like Anonymous said, the problem is that all the users of Xbox and PS are the real problem when such an attack happens. Normally it would be maybe a small problem but then everyone tries to connect at the same time all the freaking time when they lost connection at the same time and that makes it much worse if a million people push the "connect" button at the same time and repeat it like 100 times when Sony/MS have to handle already a DDoS attack.

If gamers wouldn't sit all the time i front of their console and try to conenct again and again and just wait like "normal" people would do with other services, the impact would be probably not so bad for such a long time.
