ugh. You didn't look up any vids did you? I was trying to make a point with it. Here's a link to a vid on installing a ssd into a ps4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8_nt2Dwf78 You only have to remove a panel (no screws) and one screw that holds the hdd in place to remove the hdd. it only takes a few minutes to do. Here's a link to a vid on installing a ssd into a xbox one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNXe_nEjoeo You have to take a bunch of stuff out to get to the hdd plus you void the warranty External hdd's are good for transporting data or using it as a backup. It's slower than a typical internal hdd. If you're using it as a upgrade to your internal hdd, it will just make your console slower and download/install speeds slower. What the hell do you need 2 tb for? How much porn do have? Installing an ssd actually improves how fast your console is and your install times. You can get ones with plenty of space on 'em for a decent price. My whole point is that the ps4 doesn't need to use an external hdd because you can upgrade your internal one easily for the same price and it be faster.

The convince of external is so much better.  You can bring your games over to a friends house instead of the whole console.  As for speed the external on the X1 is faster then the internal.  As far as 2TB?  Of course you need it esp with games getting bigger and bigger.  If you are going digital it fills up rather fast.  Not too mention all the games updates and such.

I won't debate with ya about external hdd's convenience or that it's easy to transport around. I agree that if you're playing a lot of digital games, you need more wiggle room with an hdd. It works well as back up too but it is slower than a internal hdd. That's fact, not just my opinion.  Performance wise, it's better to just to upgrade your internal hdd. I do have digital copies of some older games but for new games, i buy just physical copies.
