I'm never immersed by realtime action RPG because the combat looks plain silly (I think you know what I mean, e.g. being able to hit someone even though your sword obviously never hit him, etc.).

There has never been a MAIN Pokémon game on a Nintendo console which invalidates your argument. It would probably sell over 60 million copies combined. Pokémon is easily the biggest franchise in the world held back only by Gamefreak's archaic thinking (and the fact that it's a Nintendo exclusive!).

@Bold That's an issue with collision detection. Modern action RPGs like Dragon Age: Inquisition has that under wraps ...

There doesn't NEED to be a main Pokemon game to get my point across. Pokemon Battle Revolution is a decent representation of a portable franchise to transition to a console. It EVEN had online too but it ended up failing for the most part. There would be a lot of things that would need to change before Pokemon ever hopes to be successful or even sell a fraction of 60 million on consoles. Higher quality graphics, animations, artwork, music, deeper mechanics, and such would need to be accounted for before it's even an acceptable console game but even then a lot of gamers might end up not liking the content ...

Pokémon Battle Revolution didn't feature any new Pokémon and was overall very mediocre. The game scored 53% on metacritic. It was lucky to still sell this much... You're really underestimating the power of Pokémon.

Obviously the game would need better graphics, that's a very redundant thing to say. Besides, Pokémon has deeper mechanics, which you obviously don't seem to understand. Don't worry about it, neither do I... Try battling online, you'll get pummeled if you don't know how to breed the perfect Pokémon.

And no, the combat still looks silly in most modern action RPGs. Collision detection was just one tiny example. Even when you make contact with a weapon, it doesn't look remotely realistic.
