Nothing archaic about it. Turn based rpgs can be a lot more strategic and I love the slower gameplay. Why do you think Pokémon is still the most popular rpg by far (not counting MMO games). Can you imagine how much a console Pokémon game with many online features would sell on both PS4 and XBOXONE? A LOT! Wouldn't be surprised if it broke all the sales records.
