It wont be just one system, (handheld or home), as they announced over a year ago that they were going down a unified platform route, where hardware architecture would be the same for home and handeheld systems. It effectively lets them create one Mario, Zelda etc game and it can run on either platform, so they can double their output. It would mean that the next home and handheld launch at similar times. I wouldn't buy either any sooner than 2017 though. I'm not done with the Wii U yet, and I just got the new 3DS on import!
