Nintendo has a lot  of haters by default, and most of them are fanboys of certain company that I'm not going to mention and pretendos. "i love nintendo but the same games blah blah blah" yet, buying every AC, COD, NBA, Final Fantasy, etc.

Pretty much, yeah.

I've always liked Nintendo. I've owned other consoles (there's still a 360 and a PS2 hooked up to my TV along with all the Nintendo consoles), but Nintendo >>>>>>>>>> pretty much everyone else when it comes to game development. Funny thing about the people who insist that they just make the same games over and over again - they usually haven't played a Nintendo game in years.

Also Nintendo are just about the only company keeping local multiplayer alive.

True.

I see Nintendo as the only game developer that can sell me a console to play their games, I wouldn't buy a ps4/xbox just for their exclusives. Anyway, I don't really care about their executives, I just want the best games possible.

Same!

And though I'd love to see Nintendo market themselves aggressively, I'm often left wondering if that's actually a smart business practice. So much of game budgets these days is marketing, but that also means games have to sell a LOT more in order to be profitable. Aside from the transition period between Wii and Wii U, Nintendo have been significantly more profitable than either Sony or Microsoft, so they must be doing something right.

I'm sure there are things they could improve on (eShop selection being the main one I'm a bit puzzled by) but on the whole they make the games I like most, so I'm happy with them. Sounds like it's the same for you. :)
