Well yeah that is pretty obvious, of course they're working on new hardware. So is everyone else.
Some people that make articles like these seem to think developing new hardware only takes like two weeks and those engineers are just picking their noses for the rest of the generation. They're working on it since before the last system (WiiU/3DS in this case) ever hit the shelves! In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they've already have some ideas that came up during development for the next console that they shelved for the console after that.
