Actually PS brand won't easily go under, Sony could, but PS would be taken over by a stronger company and it'd become financially stronger than now, with wider possibilities, not having to help keeping afloat a sinking giant with part of its profits.

Yeah but that could be bad for the PlayStation brand because not many companies would give their devs creative freedom like Sony. So it might not remain as strong then.

The best options to let it free enough could be a joint-venture amongst all the other companies of Mitsui, the keiretsu Sony belongs to, or Sumitomo, a huge allied keiretsu that already has joint-ventures with Mitsui. Or maybe even both keiretsus, if I'm not wrong Sony is the only company in any of the two with strong interests in gaming, so the PS brand could be let free to expand without creating troubles to any other member.

I don't now what keiretsu is, but it seems good for the PS brand. The best thing to happen would be for SCE to become a separate company and merge with SOE. That can do wonders for the brand.
