No that's a horrible idea, if they release a console in 2016 that is just moderately more powerful than PS4 with the intention of winning over 3rd parties, that just puts them in the exact same situation as Wii U. By holiday 2016, PS4/XB1 will be hitting their peak, have large install bases (probably 70-80 million or more combined), be at low mass market prices ($249-299), have 100's of games, large online communities, firm lockdown on the mainstream AAA audience.
3rd parties may release games for this system if it's cheap to port games over but that doesn't necessarily mean the games will sell well. Big selling games like Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Destiny, Watch Dogs, FIFA, Madden, etc already have large fanbases on PS4/XB1 and will continue to grow in the next 2 years. Releasing a PS4 level console 3 years late is no way to win over this type of audience.
If Nintendo wants to get back in the arms race and win over 3rd parties, they would have to release a PS5/XB4 level system but that is pretty much impossible to release in about 2 years. It would be a $399 powerful Nintendo console competing against $249-299 competitors. People who bought a PS4/XB1 from 2013-2016 aren't going to be ready to upgrade yet and people who want a home console from 2017 onward are likely to buy the cheaper alternatives with vastly larger library.
In either of these scenarios, it basically is the same situation as now, it becomes a console primarily to play Nintendo games. If Nintendo wants to release a PS5 level system, they would need to do it closer to when PS5 releases when people are actually ready to upgrade their hardware. Releasing a PS4 level system 3 years late won't work and releasing a PS5 level system 3 years early won't either.
