wii u problems;
(no particular order);
1. Poor controller with no analogue triggers
2. very weak performance
3. lack of third party games
4. legacy of following a very disappointing console
5. well over-priced for spec
6. childish image
7. non-child friendly controller
8. Expensive games (for performance)
9. Far superior consoles are only marginally more expensive.
10. Similar performance consoles with far superior software support are cheaper
11. Limited functionality with regards media centre use
12. poor audio support so not compatible with a wide range of home cinema equipment. No optical out, dolby 5.1 etc.
13. Poor online infrastructure
14. Purchased content tied to console not user.
15. Has the stench of failure about it.
16. Many people don't actually realise its a different console to the wii such has been Nintendo's useless marketing.
17. Undesirable product.
18. Nintendo charges high prices for software even back-catalogue retro games.
19. It doesn't really fit into the marketplace well.
20. Nintendo killed the wii to push wii u when the wii still had consumer demand and probably would have continued to sell well at a lower price
The good;
1. Nintendo games
2. Plays wii games too.
3. Reliable
4. Robust
5. Uses very little power.
Nintendo are still making good money from handhelds but I don't think they are willing to invest in a proper home game console nowadays. So I feel Nintendo will create a handheld console that also has an easy TV connection.
I so hope to be wrong though and hear that Nintendo are working on something to beat the ps4 in performance that will hit the market in the next two years. Realistically they have to do this if they want to stay in the home console business.
