I agree the wording doesn't explicitly mean we won't see another Mario game on WiiU, but it does make me feel less confident we'll see a new 3D Mario adventure in the 64/Sunshine/Galaxy series until the next console. Which is too bad, I want to play a game like that again.
3D World is an awesome game, and even though I think it's better than Sunshine, the game together with 3D Land is really it's own side-series that blends the 2D series and the 'proper' 3D series together. It isn't on the same level of ambition, the same scope, as Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy were. Those were groundbreaking titles and pushed boundaries for both their consoles and gaming in general.
