Personally I can't class SM3DW as that big Mario release that Wii U deserves, it's a stop gap, essentially a port of the 3DS game, with some extra additions, not a proper 3D Mario game made to take advantage of the features of the Wii U like SM64 was for the N64, Sunshine was for Gamecube or Galaxy 1 & 2 were for the Wii.


Hell I wouldn't be shocked if we see another Zelda release after The Legend of Zelda U comes out, even N64 (Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask) and Gamecube (Twilight Princess and Wind Waker) had 2 mainline Zelda games.
Wii had a port of Twilight Princess and got Skyward Sword as it's mainline Zelda games.

I suspect we'll get an announcement of the next Mario at E3 2015, to release in 2016 or 2017, along with Metroid, maybe a Wave Race or F-Zero and some new IPs.

How in the world can u classify 3D World as an updated port, have u even played it?

The game has about 100 or so completely original levels, 4 player simultaneous multiplayer, Captain Toad side quests, brand new bosses, a handful of never before seen power-ups.

If u don't like the game or it didn't live up to ur expectations that completely fine but to say it's essentially an updated port is an incredibly stupid comment.

The styling is very similar to 3D land, maybe calling it a port was a poor use of words, but I simply meant that I don't think 3D World is a good enough attempt for a mainline 3D Mario title.

I'm sure it's a fun game, I haven't played it, nor did I claim to have played it and I will buy it when I get a Wii U next year, along with Zelda, Starfox, Splatoon amongst many other games that I consider a great complement to an excellent exclusive library on the system.

Maybe remake would have been a better word to describe 3D World compared to Land, basically I'm saying that I don't consider 3D World to be Wii U's SM64, Sunshine or Galaxy 1/2. I think the platform deserves the same kind of treatment for it's big Mario release as those titles had on N64, Gamecube and Wii.

 

Maybe Nintendo sees things differently, but as a Nintendo fan I think it would be a shame if Wii U didn't at least get another 3D Mario title that at least tries to be on the level of the main releases on past Nintendo platforms.

Ya there is nothing wrong with wanting Nintendo to make a Mario 64/Galaxy style game on Wii U, I just had a problem with u using updated port to describe the game, even remake is a poor choice of word, saying its a sequel to 3D Land however is a completely acceptable description. They cerainly have their similarities such as artstyle, level design and game mechanics but it can't possibly be labeled port/remake/remaster because the game features all completely brand new levels and story, that by definition makes it it's own game. That would be the equivalent of saying Halo 5 is an updated port of Halo 4 or that Uncharted 4 is an updated port of Uncharted 3 because they share the same artstyle and gameplay as their predeccessors.

But seriously u should play the game before commenting on it, yes it is similar to 3D Land but like 10x bigger scale. Honestly it's like a perfect blend of 3D Land & Mario Galaxy. Maybe that's not ur cup of tea, but still an excellent game in its own right. Moral of the story, use the correct terminology to describe games
