I'm European, works different and not sure how starts relate to coins. I've got a lot though.
Anyway, On my current account I've registered 13700 stars but me and my brother both have our own account (even though we often buy games together) so combined we've registered about 27000 stars.
We used to have different account during GC days as well. Don't know precisely how many stars we gathered back then but we've bought 4 of those Zelda Collectors editions who were 4500 stars each, so lets say 18000. (we sold 2 of them, never should have done so as they are worth so much more today)
So in total I guess we've registered about 45000 stars over the years!
And to think it could be even higher if we hadn't stopped registering for a couple of years. A lot of our club Nintendo codes from Wii games were not valid anymore when we started registering again :(
