In the new Zelda Wii U footage,  ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SECWlFInyFMthey say that a metallic clink means you've hit the right spot and damaged your enemy.

Seriously, what the fuck? A metallic clink has always been a sign that you hit ineffectually, as it is the sound of the arrowhead/sword/whatever being deflected. Why the hell would a successful hit into flesh make a metallic clink?

This annoys me waaaay more than it probably should.
