It's not their fault Mario Kart Wii is still selling very well. When you try to get a 2008 game, chances are it will be cheap, and the reason for it is because no one buys it anymore, but that's not the case with Mario Kart Wii (even if the reason is because people's copies stopped working).

Because of actions like this Nintendo is dead last in the console race. I'm not claiming this is the only reason mind you. 

Ps: there are plenty of Nintendo games that I don't want to buy for €50-60, but would pick up if they sold for less. Nintendo is losing out on sales. And trust me, those full priced games aren't selling well according to Vgchartz. ;)
