Calling developers lazy and stubborn for making games that don't 100% match your ideal vision of what they should be according to your personal preferences is not and has never been valid criticism. Furthermore, singling out Nintendo when other companies that make multiplayer 2D platformers make the same design choices is picking on them.


Okay you're right. I probably shouldn't have called them names. But the developers do seem less ambitious for excluding reasonable options that would most likely entertain their fans. I think it's fair to call them stubborn as well given Miyamoto's stance on online gaming.

I also forgot that other 2D multiplayer games exist like Rayman but given how little they sale or are advertised compared to Mario or Little Big Planet, I think it's understandable.
