There is no excuse for future (NSMB/3D World) Mario games to lack online multiplayer

LBP is the only one I'm aware of. But that and Rayman are the only non-Nintendo 2D multiplayer platformers that come to mind aside from indies. The genre's heyday was long past by the time multiplayer became a major feature of it.
