But it's not an easy win. It took a $170 price drop under a year with free games and gift cards to beat Sony. I wouldn't call that easy. That's doing everything you possibly can to win. Which, imo, puts Sony in a good position for the future since MS is doing all these things so early. It makes price drops later on less effective for XB1 since it's already so cheap. All the while Sony still has room to change their price. And MS may have alot of money, but no company likes to lose it. Not even Apple.

Wouldn´t you say then that Sony did thing even earlier?

They were 100$ cheaper for most of the year AND struck deals with heavy hitter like Destiny and Watchdogs.

It hasn´t been easy to Sony to drop the price of the console. They don´t have a $100 add-on device to remove.

$399 was the launch price and hasn't changed since. Sony still has more moves to make. Those marketing deals are nothing really big. They both do it all the time. The PS4 actually is easier to drop in price. There was a article were Sony mentioned the hardware was designed to get cheaper much faster than PS3.
