Yearly releases are fine with me, but looking at things I don't think they'll be able to do so unless they make 7th gen on 3DS as well. They need a new engine as XY's yields a terrible frame rate.
It'd be cool if Game Freak made a non-canonical Pokemon RPG on Wii U instead of starting on 7th gen. They wouldn't be as constrained to the formula and wouldn't be tentative of making changes that could harm the series. They could then implement ideas that worked into the main series in 7th gen.
