Both the Kinect and Playstation Camera have tie recognition technology. Sony and Microsoft collected the data themselves. Through some clever jumbly nonesense (bribes) VGchartz gets the numbers straight from the source. Then run it through an RNG algorithm so it's not entirely accurate to avoid suspicion!

How the heck does the NES have a tie ratio then? Did they count through a Cencus?
