Hasn't Nintendo invested a fortune merging it's handheld and home console hardware research and development teams? Not the actions of a company who is going to bottle it. Despite the poor Wii U sales, Nintendo is in profit. Even when it wasn't, Nintendo's losses were a splash in the ocean compared to Sony's and Microsoft's losses. I think they are highly unlikely to exit the hardware business any time soon.
