With the sales of Xbox One and PS4 this gen I think you'll see Nintendo stating that dedicated gamers are now mainstream just like they stated this gen that dual anolog controllers are now mainstream and they will move in that direction. They were a bit behind then, dual analogue controllers were mainstream PS2 era, 2 whole generations ago!

Yeah Nintendo is always behind on some things and ahead on some things.  They survive based on the quality of their first party software.
