They can't do anything to "redesign" it that makes it cheaper. The console is already pretty small, its width is only slightly large enough to fit in the optical disc drive, can't get that any smaller. Remove components from the package like power cord? That's just dumb. Remove the Gamepad? Not gonna happen. Redesign the Gamepad so that it's cheaper to manufacture? That's the best thing they can do to drop the price.
