The article states they began working on the Gambryo engine a few months ago, which means they've been twiddling their thumbs for 1 1/2 years with pre-development? I call foul on the whole thing still. This is so suspect. Who takes 18 months to plan out a game before any development occurs? |
http://www.nintendolife.com/articles/2007/04/09/sadness_canned Frontline decided to not help Nibris with development so that may be part of the reason it has taken so long. |
In that letter Frontline never acknowledges Sadness was ever in the making. What this seems like to me is a small team of people with a lot of ambition but not enough talent and money to see it through. I could have thought up a cool game idea, filmed a live video and swung a Wiimote at a screen to simulate actions also, but no one would believe me that I could make that live video into a game now would they? That's all Nibris has produced for us thus far, live action concept video. Considering how much trouble they have even getting development started, does anyone have a pretty good suspicion that even if Sadness is released it won't be that good? These are novice developers, needing support from outside studios and now a middleware engine that can't secure a publisher. Something's telling me this isn't exactly going to be Resident Evil quality, more like Escape From Bug Island quality.
