Maybe MS didn't release exact number in PR because then Sony could release a rounded figure(assuming sales are as close as we've been hearing) which would take polish off of XBO winning.
By that I mean:
If Sony say PS4 sold 1 million, but MS only say they were number one, it looks like they could have outsold PS4 by any massive number
But if MS released a number 1 million, Sony could then release there similar number aprox 1 million it wouldn't look as good
