I found people were in general quite polite and freindly when I visited Washington/Virginia. I also found in general Americans are quite outspoken and confident.

I was reading a gun magazine in a department store in Virginia and I was so surpirsed to see a tommygun for sale I called over to my friend.

An American man shopping with his young daughter overheard the exhange and came over to me and my friend and said to me: "Yeah those suckers cost about $1200, but I could get you one if you want...for...ehh....about $750".

I was doubly surprised. Here I was seeing a tommygun for sale in a magazine, and here was an American willing to sell me one.

Classic moment :)
