Since the past 3 years I've been into PC gaming since I've always loved the RTS titles PC offers and their exclusives, only trouble was getting a stable build to actually run all the games I wanted and along the way I did get screwed out of both money and my recent build by an ex friend, now I'm currently saving money to build a completely new rig so I can max all my games for the next 5 or so years. I will say this generation has been less than stellar for me since I currently have no "next gen" system so far but halfway through this year I've been getting into what the Wii U has to offer (backwards compat, free online, games I actually want and aren't all brown and grey) and a little of what the XB1 has, Sony hasn't really got anything I want and with a PC I decided on always acquiring multiplat titles on that system so no multiplats on consoles sway me in any way which leaves me with excluvies being the reason to get any console this gen. After some time I've been getting fed up with Phil Spencers attempts at securing exclusives since I want to buy the XB1 yet he's allowing most games to be hampered by the 360 and allowing some to go to PC which completely destroys any reason for me to buy one (timed exclusives have no sway since time just means waiting it out), he needs to really secure those exclusives, don't let them cross. Apart from that I'm aware that this gen will be short (hopefully) and next gen to me would really have to be a big leap in terms of gameplay, mechanics, AI (god damn AI 100% all the way) and graphics output in order for me to even think about buying another console, Nintendo mostly has my favour though since the majority of their titles are almost always exclusive and appear top quality to most, I'll most likely invest in a new Nintendo console since it would most likely be the cheapest and if they don't go the Sony route and charge for online play then it's a complete guarantee I'd buy from them again. For Sony though they'd need to really push the finger if they want me to buy their next system let alone the current one, I'll always have someone throwing me list upon list of games expecting me to not already know what's currently released to soon to be, I know all that is coming out and I'll say that it still doesn't interest me. |
I really can't see that much more of an improvement with future consoles anymore, no matter how advanced they'll be, I'm pretty sure most of the attention will be focused on the graphical side of things and I'm sure that they will not realize their full potential in the gameplay and mechanics department. To be honest, I'm liking this gen a lot more than the previous one, there's a lot more competition going around that only benefit us in the end, and ideas for exciting new IPs are shining through, especially on Microsoft's side (Even though most of their games end up in PC regardless), games like Sunset Overdrive, Scalebound, Quantum Break, PROJECT Spark, Bloodborne, FFXV, KH3, etc. give me hope that this console generation will abandon the whole "realism" and "making everything a gritty shooter since those sell" bandwagon and will focus on new interesting ideas and IPs unlike last gen.
I'm hoping that this gen is at the very least 6 years long, but I think that Nintendo's necessity to get out of the whole the Wii U created will force Microsoft and Sony to do the same and move along with the next consoles rather fast.
I'm now filled with determination.
