You guys don't understand. Taking figures out of circulation creates collection value. If they keep making the same ones, you'll stop buying them after some time and just consider them to be toys. Once they're out of circulation, you'll have more incentive to grab the ones that ARE in stock because you never know when it'll be disc'd.
On top of which it creates buzz, and also gets those ebay resellers to buy as many as possible.
It's the way beanie babies became popular.
I mean, why would you ever buy the ones they come out with later?
This is the QoL platform nintendo had been talking about. It's very strategic and very smart.
EDIT: Then after a year, they'll reprint them, or make collectors editions. It's similar to the disney vhs model. They print a ton of movies, then stop, and then when they release them again, the price still stays high becauseof the supply and demand. You keep too many things in production and you run high manufacturing costs, and eventually, they stop selling, but you have to keep producing because that's your model. Instead, focus on 10 at a time, keep the price high, and move on. Get it? (I know it sucks as a consumer)
