I call it further evidence that Sega just needs to offer itself to Nintendo, get Nintendo to buy them out completely. Sonic has consistently done better on Nintendo systems (obviously that's after accounting for wildly different install bases, and only in contexts of the same game), but has failed to really thrive because Sega doesn't seem to know how to do proper QA... which is a field in which Nintendo excels.
My verdict is thus that this has proven that Sega shouldn't be a third-party developer anymore. If they can't manage their biggest IP on the platform on which it has the best chance, and instead rush out half-finished products, they need to be put under the thumb of people who know how to manage these things.
