Those 3 Wii U exclusives combined sold less than just the PS3 version of Sonic Generations, and I think they also sold less than the 360 version of Sonic Generations as well. Even with the 3DS versions of Sonic Lost World and Sonic Boom combined with the Wii U versions I think the PS3 version of Sonic Gnerations still comes out on top. Now of course quality-wise Boom and Lost World were inferior to Generations, but you get my point. People told Sega it was a bad idea, comments sections on articles about the deal were filled with highly upvoted comments saying that those games would sell poorly because Sonic has a bigger fanbase on Xbox and Playstation than it does on Nintendo platforms. The Sonic games on Wii only sold well because of the casuals, and the casuals never migrated to Wii U, they're mostly on iOS and Android now. |
What?
Sonic has been more closely associated with Nintendo platforms than the others for a long time. You'll have to cite more than Generations to give any definitive sense that it's not the case.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
