Animal Crossing has yet to skip a Nintendo system since it's inception.

Well, it's mainly the people who are also predicting that Nintendo is going to release a 'Fusion' console in 2016 and drop the Wii U, putting major titles like Animal Crossing and a 3D Mario game on the fusion platform instead.
