nintendo already hinted at this actually. they/platinum are apparently already working on another (unannounced) project. my bet is it's something else and bayonetta 3 will come in 2016/17.

Source?

I'd love to see a third game. Development costs presumably wouldn't be high, but I don't know if 500k would be enough for Nintendo stump up the cash for it. And if they are cultivating a close relationship with Platinum, why not get them working on a Nintendo IP that would presumably result in better returns for their investment? Neither Wonderful 101 or Bayonetta 2 will have sold well. How well would Wonderful 101 have sold if it was an all-star Nintendo game, as originally pitched by Platinum?

in the interview, hitoshi yamaguchi, who is the supervisor/manager of nintendo spd group no. 2 (the group that mostly works with second parties like intelligent systems, and is responsible for starfy, warioware, fire emblem, advance wars, codename steam, etc., with some development assistance for xenoblade and wonderful 101), suggests that they began work on bayonetta 2 because the assets were already there, but that there is a completely new project platinum is working on alongside bayonetta 2..
