Actually Maths is an accurate use of the term, just not commonly used anymore.
Wait, sorry, misunderstood what you were pointing out, either way, it depends entirely on how he is using the term, as I believe math can also be used as a shortned term for mathematical, not just mathematic. If this was the case, his statment of "bow before my superior mathematical knowledge" would still be accurate.
