Because it is currently the only competitive dynamic markets that get attention. People get bored if a match is too one sided, so find the mini matches within that are close. Europe is a lock, Japan is a lock and R.O.W. is a lock so all we really have left is North America where the two consoles are really battling.
Think of it like an election where a handful of races are close so they get tons of attention, even though a party already has a set majority regardless of how those tight races turn out.
