Not really.
you can change the rocket's direction if he tries to evade, slowing down the rocket and still hitting the target.
If he does go under, drop your rocket right on top of him.
Plus it's not like it's one or the other.
With the upsmash, you have to wait on the ledge.
With the nikita you can chase him with the rocket while he's still far away, and if he does pass through, you can change to your up smash.
