Well, handheld gaming is supposed to be cheaper than home console gaming. A 32 gb memory card would add 15-25 € more to the original price. 1-4gb is fine if someone is never going to use the digital store. But yeah, there's no reason why the XL model doesn't have 8-16gb at least. It comes without AC adaptor already, they should at least guarantee memory space.

Sorry for the confusion, I was actually ranting at Sony over that. Vita is far more digital oriented than the 3DS. Many of it's bigger games are becoming digital only. Some games clock in at 4gb each and it's not possible to buy them on a cartridge. I have a 32gb card and despite over 100 of my Vita games being physical, I'm at a point where I am constantly having to delete things to put new stuff on for the digital stuff and game patches :(

I know the feeling. When I bought my 3DS, I used an 8gb memory card thinking that that would be eough for games and updates because I usually buy phisical. After 3 or 4 games I need to get a bigger memory card or delete something, and I have no idea how to move all the data from one SD card to a bigger one (if that is even possible).

You know it deserves the GOTY.
