It's not the greatest Zelda game by far, but the water temple is pretty easy. You only have yourself to blame if you struggled there.

I never struggled there. I just finally lost interest within that dungeon because I was struggling to keep myself going through the whole game. I've beat enough dungeons in the Zelda games to not have that much trouble.

Too bad for you because the dungeons that come after it are some of the best in the series.
