Endless updates: Amplitude releases free add-ons for Endless Space and Endless Legend

Comment

There’s less than a month to go until that funny time of year when lots of people selflessly throw gifts at other people. Endless Legend developer Amplitude is getting into the spirit early, giving away a free add-ons for both Endless Legend and Endless Space, called Visions of the Unseen, which we mentioned last week, and Chronicles of the Lost.

A weird Dragon Age: Inquisition bug is making party members shy

Comments7

Companions in Dragon Age: Inquisition should be nattering almost constantly, engaging in off-the-cuff incidental banter, telling jokes, flirting and generally being as chatty as they were in previous games. But for many players they're shy bairns, only opening their gobs every couple of hours rather than minutes.

An odd and reportedly widespread bug is rendering Dragon Age's party members mute. BioWare are now investigating the bug and have asked players to donate their 60+ hour save games in the name of research.

World of Tanks Stronghold guide: why you’re going to need a mighty clan

Comment

Wargaming are making clan strongholds a whole lot more vulnerable in the World of Tanks 9.4 update. Before, clans could go to war in skirmishes and receive Industrial Resource but there was no risk to their homebase. Now, you can get resources by fighting clans and mess up their home.

This is how it all works.

Metal Gear Online to return alongside The Phantom Pain

Comments1

Have you heard? Metal Gear Solid is PC gaming and PC gaming is Metal Gear Solid. A whole platform-specific history of compellingly silly stealth is now ours to co-opt, and we too can enthuse about characters with names like Psycho Mantis and Decoy Octopus.

We’ve got two games floating in over the coming months, like goats strapped to so many balloons, and probably a third in the strapping form of a new Metal Gear Online.

Star Citizen hits $63million in funding, next stretch goal is a cat

Comments5

Star Citizen is still raking in the cash from its supporters, with the latest goal of $63,000,000 having been met. This comes just two weeks after the previous goal of $61million was met, demonstrating the incredible flow of cash the project is still receiving.

And if people are still in the mood to donate, the next milestone will throw small furry animals into the game.

Daedalic is adapting The Pillars of the Earth novel for an adventure game

Comment

Daedalic has announced that it will be creating a new adventure game based on Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth novel.

A historic epic, the first novel deals with the rising tensions between the nobility, clergy, and common folk as a cathedral is constructed in the fictional town of Kingsbridge. The resulting backstabbings, bust-ups, and clashes make some of Game of Thrones’ best plots look quaint in comparison.

Maia Update 0.46 video squishes bugs, adds botany and body bags

Comment

Don’t you just hate it when you’re going about your work at the office and you stumble across a mouldering corpse? It’s so distracting, drives my productivity way down. Maia, the space colony management game, had a similar issue but the latest update adds bodybags, letting you cover up those smelly, festering corpses and get on with your day.

There’s a lot more in the 0.46 update besides. You can now 3D print robots, for instance.

Prison Architect Update 27 fixes the problems caused by teleporting food

Comment

Prison Architect’s food was in crisis, chefs didn’t know where to put it, prisoners didn’t know where to go to eat it, Introversion thought they could fix it by giving food the ability to teleport but what they did was open up a quantum rift which players exploited to their gain.

Update 26 did nothing but cause trouble. With Update 27, Introversion think they’ve fixed it.

Grand Ages: Medieval features more volcanoes than is reasonable for a game set in this period in history

Comment

Grand Ages: Medieval was announced way back in August at Gamescom, and is so much to do with floating over fields and clicking on tiny men that you might have forgotten it ever existed.

It's a real time strategy sequel to the similarly grand aged Grand Ages: Rome, and comes from the developers of Rise of Venice and Patrician IV, so you know it's got some nation-management chops. A man played it in front of me for a little while, and here's what happened.

Gratuitous Space Battles 2 now has flying saucers, obedient fighters and handy energy beams

Comment

The lovely thing about Gratuitous Space Battles 2 development videos is that, even if you’re not all that interested in the new features - though you should be, as some could be rather game changing - you’re in for a visual treat. It’s a gorgeous game, all bright lasers and glowing nebulae.

In the latest trailer, Cliff Harris introduces new saucer ships, fancy support beams and improved fighter AI. He also shows off some of the pretty procedural damage. Take a look below.

DreamHack drama: Fnatic use a questionable boost to defeat LDLC

Comments6

Controversy and drama has once again struck the esoteric world of eSports, with Fnatic ruffling more than its fair share of feathers at the DreamHack Winter quarter finals. Suffering a nine-round deficit, the Swedish team wasn’t looking so hot, until they pulled a rabbit out of their hat.

They used a boost - where players jump on another player’s head to reach a high up spot - to reach a mostly unknown map position in Overpass that gave them a huge advantage over the opposing team LDLC. They used the vast amount of extra knowledge the position gave them to take victory from LDLC. There’s just one problem, though: it might be illegal.
