Canon isn't dead you know. Everything written in the EU happened until these new movies or the other new material conflict and overwrite certain parts. They've more or less said that from the start. Anyway the good about the trailer were of course the X-Wings (so awesome seeing those), the Millenium Falcon and the Star Warsy stuff in it like the droids and the locations. I agree the bad was that Lightsaber, pretty lame though I've always found the single classic Lightsaber the coolest. Even choosing that configuration over dual-wield or double-bladed ones in video games. I also don't like the 'flaming' look of it (which also makes zero sense anyway)... I hope it's exclusive to this guy's weapon only.
