Nope, game sells consoles and its very known fact that PS4 has many exclusives planned for next year and particularly Bloodborne in 4 months(Order 1886 in 3 months) and they can expect more from PS experience event in a week. PS4 has word of mouth that its the best place to play games including exclusives and better 3rd party(in holidays) next year(atleast for first half of next year).

My guess would be the PS4 stand alone was teh highest wished for pretty much all year. Grandparents and relatives just going to their family's "wishlist" and buying it without looking for bundles

that's actually a really good idea. Probably explains it. and yes it is the highest wished for so i'll go with your theory.
