Yeah, and the plastic arches around the earpieces develop micro-fractures that grow quite dramatically over time (happened with my previous Sony's, though they lasted a long time because I babied the hell out of them).  That's why my new headphones (Pionerr HDJ-1500) are all metal on those arches.  Pretty sweet headphones, definitely like them.
