Actually there was a sales boost after the X1 "alleviation," sales were worse prior to the "alleviation." The problem is a $399 X1 is still too expensive.

The X1 has seen a massive boost since becoming cheaper than PS4 and having games bundled. This shows the X1 is appealing to many consumers, MS just dropped the ball on price.

You're wrong about pricing of the 360 S model. The 360 did not get a price cut for the launch of the S model, a non-HDD console was $199 well before the S model was announced.
