Is Square-Enix due for a Nintendo franchise revival?

True, the Wii U isn't selling the best but with funding for development from Nintendo, Square-Enix wouldn't have anything to lose.

They still wanna be able to make a reasonable profit, which tbh probably won't be much on the Wii U even if the development is covered, better off making a PS4/X1 multiplat.

If Nintendo fund it, SE can only make profit. If would be exclusive, I bet it would sell well

The profit has to be enough to jusify the years of development time, which I doubt it would.  Also I'm sure SE is aware Nintendo does not have a good track record of advertising their third party exclusives.
