After RROD and early PS3 deaths, I'm completely fine with making a few inches more space in my entertainment center.

It's not really about the system being too big. It's about the system being designed big to fake a slimline revision. MS will release a slim within a year, I guarantee that, and everyone will praise them for it. That is what this is about.

But the slim X1 will actually come about due to die shrink not like the final redesigns of the 360 and PS3 which pretty much used the same hardware as the previouss model but where just redesigned to save some money.

Don't fall for it Chris, that is a BS excuse you're being fed.
A die-shrink won't shrink the console by 40%.
Look at that space in the top left. It's like 20% of the console size, and as pure and empty as the driven snow. You could literally turn the hard drive sideways, or even externalize it in a wafer thin side mount, and shrink the console size in half, without a die shrink. Again, red-herring.

PS4 will also get a die shrink, because it's nearly the same exact processor. The console will not get smaller.

Well did you actually read what I said.  It still will be due to actual die shrik unlike the current models of the PS3 and 360 which where just redesigned to save some money.
