I think it would be near impossible for Microsoft (or Sony) to take a big part of the marketshare away from Nintendo by introducing a motion-sensitive remote. At best, it would be a welcome addition, at worst another novelty that won't be fully explored this generation. If either company wanted to really push this thing, they'll have to bite the bullet and introduce it at a great loss, making the price-point attractive and worth a gamble for both the hardcore and casual consumer. Still, if this product is in the company's long-term vision, then it wouldn't be too bad an idea to introduce it now, still being so early in the console cycle, but wouldn't be most effective until the 2nd generation of the product in the next console cycle. Edit: Also, when/if the X-controller/Sony Waggle is released, I doubt it would replace the controllers currently used by either console, but instead introduce a new type of game specifically designed for use of the controller.
